Attending an Art Institute school means there’s an interesting interaction between students of like creative minds but of different programs. You may find students in the interior design, graphic design, or multimedia programs hanging out together in the student café. Cool things happen when you have all of that creative energy and inspiration in one place. You’ll see.
Please select the area of study below that is the closest match to your interests. Many of our programs are very closely related as far as subject area is concerned. Degree titles and offerings vary by location. When you learn more about them you may change your mind, which is not a problem.
Design
Designers solve problems, both visually and practically. What drives their work is the concept, the big idea, that elevates a project into something unexpected. Finding new and better ways to communicate is the designer’s goal.
For you, it’s all about finding your unique spin on things. Learning what it’s going to take to gain an edge. There’s a lot of visual clutter in the world. It will be your job to help make sense of it, making your ideas and messages stand out.
Culinary Arts
For culinary hopefuls like you, opportunities abound. Increases in population and personal incomes mean that we are eating out more often, so says the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
With opportunity, though, comes competition. This means you’ll need to know traditional, fundamental cooking skills, which is why we place emphasis on one-on-one instruction from experienced faculty. And you’ll need to know how to think and act like a culinary professional. Gleaming, professional kitchens await.
Media Arts
Technology has revolutionized the way we communicate. What hasn’t changed is the need for creativity and vision to capture someone’s attention – and hold it there, fast.
At The Art Institutes, you’ll learn the technology that drives the commercial arts. You’ll also learn that computers and editing suites don’t replace creativity. Your original ideas set the work apart and give it meaning. Your technical savvy and creativity, developed and fine-tuned by an Art Institutes education, will help give you an edge.
Fashion
Clothing is wearable art, fantasy, and a necessity, all at the same time. Fashion is also about business, and that’s where an Art Institutes education comes in.
We offer Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing, and Visual Merchandising. Here, a practical, real-world education is infused with your fantasies about what people will be wearing. As you develop your own sense of style, you’ll also learn what it takes to gain a foothold in a very competitive business.
Not all programs are offered at all locations.
Online EducationLife is hard. Developing your skills doesn't have to be. That's why The Art Institute Online, a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, introduced a unique design program offered totally online.
